Interviews

In Conversation with Nik

I have been doing these articles for a few months now, and throughout I have learned a great deal about RRR, Sound System Culture, and the community that has so obviously been born out of the company. But it is perhaps in this interview where this has most come to light.

In Conversation with Alien Izz

met Izzy when she had a DJ set at Future Yard last year. Although we didn’t have the time for anything other than a passing hello, I was excited to see a female DJ in the space. Ever since then, I’ve seen Alien Izz crop up on almost every DJ line-up in the city and then more recently, as the lead for the DJ workshops for underrepresented genders.

In Conversation with meraki

I’m particularly proud of this interview. Talking to George was a pleasure, visiting meraki was a pleasure (despite the wind and rain), and diving into some of the pressing issues that music venues are having to address, such as diversity issues and spiking incidents. Voicing these matters and giving them a platform to do that is a key starting point (and I emphasise starting point!), to making positive change.

In Conversation with Operation Sound System

On Saturday at 8am, I found myself sat at desk with not one, but two coffees to hand. I was about to get on a call with Nick, one of RRR’s olden and golden… in fact Nick was the man behind the Sound System at our very first event, Oxjam. It seems quite fitting then, that he would be the first to be interviewed for RRR’s new blog, a space to celebrate the local talent that we have the pleasure of working with.
